Patient Screening Tools

Screening patients for possible sleep disorders is simple. The Epworth test measures a patients daytime sleepiness. A patient that presents with a score of 10 or more, is indicative of significant daytime sleepiness, and a consultation with a sleep clinic is recommended.

Click here to download our Epworth form. Once filled it out, you can assess whether a patient would warrant a consult at the clinic.

The STOP-BANG questionnaire is another screening tool that can indicate the severity of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). A patient with high risk would answer yes to 5 to 8 questions. Any risk of OSA would warrant a consultation with a sleep clinic.

Benefits of Home Sleep Testing for your patients

A home sleep test is a quick way to obtain a diagnostic as to whether your patient has sleep apnea or not. The patient is able to complete a sleep study in the comfort and convenience of his/her own home.

Home sleep testing eliminates waiting periods and improves test completion rates.

Test results are interpreted by a sleep specialist and are available within 7 business days. Treatment can begin sooner than with any other OSA home testing option.

We make it easy for you!

We serve the Greater Montreal Area. The types of Home Sleep Testing we provide are:

  1. Cardiorespiratory Polygraphy: This test consists of different sensors that measure and record the oxygen saturation and the heart rate, respiratory flow, thoracic effort , abdominal effort, and body position. This test can also be preformed with a patient's CPAP device to determine if their current pressure is sufficient to eliminate any significant respiratory events.

  2. Polysomnography (PSG): The test consists of electrodes and sensors placed on the head, face, chest and legs. This permits the measuring and recording of the oxygen saturation, ora-nasal flow, thoracic effort, abdominal effort, body position, snoring, heart rate and ECG, eye movements (EOG-electro-occulogram), sleep, the different sleep stages and the length of time the patient is awake and also micro-arousals (EEG-electroencephalogram), and muscle activity in the legs and chin with an electromyogram (EMG).

If OSA is suspected, the cardiorespiratory polygraph is a sufficient option for diagnosis.

If OSA and any underlying sleep disorders are suspected, a PSG is recommended to diagnose other sleep disorders.
