We all want a good night’s sleep. Some of us, despite following the best tips for better sleep, may find ourselves lacking a restorative sleep.
Some common sleep disorders, like sleep apnea, can lead to multi layered health problems and worsened insomnia. Sleep apnea is a disorder where you stop breathing during the night. The upper airway collapses and prevents air from entering the airways. The severity and type of sleep apnea can be diagnosed using a study called a cardiorespiratory polygraphy. This looks at your breathing, oxygen levels, and oxygen saturation.
For those suffering from poor sleep and sleep apnea is not readily identified as a possible cause, there is a sleep study called a polysomnography. This study looks at the breathing, body movements, oxygen saturation, sleep stages, body movements, and body position. It’s a more in depth study as to other possible sleep disorders that may be the cause of poor sleep.
Being that it is Sleeptember, we here a Clinique Somnomed hope that you are sleeping well and also know that if you aren’t we are available to answer any of your sleep related questions.
